Help, coupler check

Hello to all.

I have the engine out of my boat at the moment. It is a Merc 165 I want to put it in place of a bad one. How do I check to determine if the coupler needs to be replaced before I install the engine?

I figured this was the time to check it as it will be easy to replace before I put the engine into the boat.

If the rubber is cracked replace it....
The splines should be nice & square, (not pointy)...
It's probably fine, especially if the alignment was good on the old engine.....
