Help Determining Prop Pitch

i have a 3 blade stainless steel prop on my 1973 merc 850 there are no stampings or numbers anywhere on it, is there a way to determine the pitch using say a protractor or tape measure just curious what i have

Did you actually remove the prop and look at the hub. Sometimes the numbers are hidden behind the prop washer and nut. No - you can't measure prop pitch accurately. A prop shop uses a pitch block to check pitch.

yeah the prop is off i have searched every where on it there are no stamping, or scribings anywhere the prop isnt even wore but somebody i work with gave me this website and it goes through how to check the pitch looks like it could work im gonna give it a try and see what i come up with im curious what i have cuz i run the river a lot and would like a spare prop and this one runs great so i would like to get the same pitch only aluminum

An old , Mich wheel?, prop we have on my '69 Merc 800 that only has the 19P stamp on the hub between two of the blades. If your prop was painted often enough that stamp might be missing.

Out of curosity why is knowing the prop specs important to you? Is your motor performing the way you would like it to?

yeah the boat is performing great but the reason i want to know is that is a nice stainless prop no nicks or anything but right now i only have one prop and ont he river i run on its not a matter of if you hit something its when lol so i want a backup prop and would liek the same pitch i have now but since i dont know th pitch i have now its tough to known what to buy and i just wanted to know how to find the pitch, im gonna try that paper method tommorow ill let you know what i come up with
