A friend of mine GAVE me his 1984 16.5' Bayliner Cuddy on a Load-Rite Trailer. It sat in his woods since 2001 and the cover collapsed under the weight of a snow storms. There were small saplings growing in the floor ;-(

Also, it has a 1974 Johnson 115 motor.

I'm determined to fix it up and use it, but I can't find any info on the weight of the boat on the Bayliner website. Its too old I guess.

I have the serial number. Can I find the weight of this boat, motor and trailer on the Internet?

I want to tow it with either:

2005 All-Wheel Drive Toyota Sienna (3,500 lb rating)

or

(Don't get mad at me)....2002 WRX (2,000 lb rating)

I live in South Jersey (no hills) and will only be going 5 - 10 miles on 45 m.p.h. roads.

Thanks.

don't try with the WRX, the car will cry. Check here NADA for your boat weight and add around 500lbs for the trailer

My guess is it too much for the WRX but the sienna may do it fine. I would hoever suggest you have it weighed first. Truckstop will do it for you.

Mine is a 17.5 Foot bayliner and weighs 2000 lbs all up ready to launch. Boat+Trailer.

Cuddys about 400-500Lbs more.

Re: Help determining weight of boat

Thanks for the help. I will take your advice.

NADA says its a 16' boat @ 1,495 lbs. dry
Motor is around 275 lbs.
If trailer is 500 lbs.....

...that takes me to 2,270 lbs....no gear, no gas, etc.

I guess my wife's car gets the hitch!

I also have a backup vehicle...a 1994 front wheel drive Plymouth Voyager (130,000 miles), but I've read several posts about troubles with wheel spinning on the ramp with 2WD vehicles. Its a 3.0 liter V6...probably shouldn't even consider it.

Anyhow, I've added the NADA site to my list.

Thanks again for the speedy responses on my first post!
