Help determining Year of Spirit Outboard and carb kit seller(s)

Hullo!

I have a Spirit 65 HP outboard that I cannot get running without squirting gas in the carbs. If I spray gas in the carbs it will start and run until gas is gone. I have ensure (I think) that the pump works. I tested this by pumping the bulb almost hard and the filter is 3/4 full, putting gas in carb, running it for the bit it runs and then feeling that the bulb is hard and the filter is now full. I believe this is a test that pump works. I am planning to disconnect the other side of fuel pump and see how the gas pumps out - strong or other.

I was looking online tonight for a carb rebuild kit for this motor. Figured if not pump its the carb... I pulled my serial and model for help but CANNOT locate the year or where to purchase carb kit (IF ITS STILL AVAILABLE??? ) and need some assistance:

Outboard: Spirit 65 HP
Serial: 6501 001367
Model: 650013
Maker: Spirit Marine Division, Arctic Industries
Carb Stamp: MIK (or MKI or MIC - I already forgot! )

I did look at browns point marine to no avail. Looks like MOST of their parts are 85 and newer...

Any help on the motor starting (should I do ____ additionally) or the year and somewhere to purchase a carb kit?

Im guessing some but bet Suzuki motors used the same carbs for many models and years and maybe my 65HP Spirit = ____yr Suzuki for the carbs.

Kinda want to fix this outboard up as it is a rare beast AND it comes from Get A Way in Thief River Falls MN! (I am from MN and appreciate local support, even YEARS down the line)...

I am having the WORST time trying to get any info on this motor! I would like to figure out year so I can find carb kit and/or suzuki equivelant parts... Searched the net long and hard today, nothin... HELP!

Browns Point Marine comes through... 1980 Suzuki. On to the next problem which is, their stocked Suzuki Kits dont match up... wonder if its possible to find a dealer that has "older" kits still in inventory?

Other Question: As stated in my original post, engine runs with gas sprayed into carb, fuel pump checks out or so it seems. Likely this is a carb issue, correct? Is there a way to "clean" the carb without pulling it? Id like to try any kind of thing before piecing together the carb parts at an extra cost. Example: Spray Carb cleaner all over it, let it sit, then spray gase with oil all over it and retry? Or will that kill the engine?
