HELP!!! Did I burn up my indmar????

I took my 98 MC sports star out of storage and hooked up all the hoses and dropped it in the lake. What I didn't realize is I failed to hook up the main inlet hose near the back of the engine. It was run at idle speed on and off for about 5-7 minutes before I realized that it wasn't getting water. It did smoke some but not excessively. The impeller doesn't appear to have anything wrong with it. Is it possible that everything is all right?

5-7 minutes on a stone cold engine shouldn't be a problem.

It's a 1998 inboard Indamr, so it's a MPI vortec 350 with a velvet drive 71

I don't think mastercraft or Indmar has ever done a I/O!

Ayuh,.... Then I'd think he probably smoked the raw water Impeller.....

Who said anything 'bout I/Os,..??

It did smoke some but not excessively.

what kind of smoke are we talking about? was it heat smoke from the motor(burning off excess oil or other contaminants ON the motor).....or was it smoke out the exhaust?
