85, 3.8L, V-6, OMC. Not run for last 4 years but ran great before being put away. I can't get it to start and think I may have the ignitions wires in the wrong order or something. Just not sure. Here's what I've done:
replaced coil, plugs, points, cond, rotor, engine oil, oil filter, water sep/fuel filter. Good compresion all the way around. Did not replace Dist. Cap, but did remove wires from it and did not replace wires. It just won't start. Seems to be getting gas, but not sure. Used starting fluid but that did't help either.
I know the firing order but am not sure I put the plugs in right or set the point right. I set them at .017 top dead center; howerver I don't know what the setting is supposed to be. I am now getting fire from the coil to distributor. I'm just baffled and frustrated. Any help would help.

How do I know if I got the wires in the cap in the right order. I know the firing order and which wire goes to which cylinder, but not sure I'm starting out right on sticking them back in the cap where they go. Can anyone guide me in the right direction?
Thansk
