Re: Help for new guy

As everyone already said, you have a 1954 Sea King Twin cylinder 5hp. Was made my Gale a division of OMC for Montgomery Ward. They are very simplistic in design. The maitenance parts (ignition, impellor) are shared with many Johnsons and Evinrudes and available. It has a neutral clutch. When taken care of it will run for many years with little or no issues. Use 20:1 or 16:1 as the fuel mix. Has all bushings so more oil is better (16:1). There are many out there so used parts are not an issue.

Let me know if you have any more questions. I have had these completely a part and back together, a few of them.

I would only add that Gale made many private label motors based on yours so other than cosmetics the parts of all these motors will fit as well as the MW series.
It does share ignition parts with Evinrude Johnson motors of that period.
I believe the leg shares parts with the Johnson TN series motors.
