Ive had the boat out many times and the nite before i always fully charge the battery... However the volt gauge never goes over 12 volts whether im idling at 1000 rpms or cruising wide open at 4800 rpms.. Today i came home and went to my seloc book.. I put a volt meter on the battery terminals and monitored battery voltage key on engine off.. 11.97 volts... engine running @ idle 12.00 volts and 2000 rpms the peak is 12.07 volts... so i started reading and decided for 4 dollars ill go to radioshack and get a rectifier, Replaced and with no change i got the same results... Like ive said ive had the boat out many times and its always started and ran well But the gauge is never up . SO im concerned.. Any help would be Great...

Test your stator. You manual will give you the instructions.

Also, check all the connections between the stator and battery. Corroded connectors or loose connections can do the same thing. With the engine running, check for hot wires or connectors. A hot wire or connector will lead to the source of voltage loss.

i would think your battery should be pushing more than 11.97 volts, are you sure your battery is good?

Re: Help Force Charging propblems

im curious, installed new stator today and i was running the engine and no change to the charging system... So while i was checking voltages i decided to check the voltage at the + pin on the rectifier when i removed the Red wire from the rectifier the voltage jumped up to 13.00 volts at the battery and on my gauge... I turned the engine up to 2000 rpms and the voltage goes to 13.84 volts so its charging with the red wire disconnected but when i put it back on it stops charging...

thanks guys
