Re: help from the members
After the New Year, Mercury will start having "service training" at select facilities concerning "Project X". Each dealership can send up to one tech. (for now anyways) to "learn" the up-coming 4-stroke that Merc has in store for us. If I remember correctly, it's for 2 or 3 days only. I egerly await the new info but doubt that Merc will release much of this stuff till the engines actually come out. So it will be more to get everyone excited rather than turn wrenches on.... Rumor has it that the motor will be a "new" (not derived from GM) 100% Mercury powerhead. 4 stroke in-line 6 cylinder. It may be supercharged, and may be available without SC for lower horsepower needs. It may be available in a 4-cylinder configuration also. With or with a super-charger or even with a turbo, who knows!!! I would expect a range of hp's from say, 115,135,150,175,200,225,250 275 and maybe even 300. Maybe Merc will sell afew to Yamaha???? As to "specs", probably "similar" to the Trailblazer GM in-line 6. It is 275 hp. I will tell you this though, All the manufactures are afraid that the technologies are advancing too fast. The factory personnel are having a difficult time keeping up it, they're afraid that the mechanics at the dealership level won't be able to keep up also!!! It's not just about turning wrenches anymore. Ya gotta actually know how to think, reason and add 2+2 now.
