Help Hard Starting Yamaha

I have a 2002 Yamaha 50 HP 2 stroke. The engine is very hard starting when cold. I removed the intake silencer and there is a red lever on what I believe it is something for the fuel enrichment. When I move the lever the motor starts right away. I found an electrical print and it looks like there is a blue wire that goes from the key switch to the enrichment solenoid. I found another print on this site for the enrichment circuit and the way they explained the operation was that when cold it would enrich the center carburetor and something would heat up and the system would return to normal. Does anyone know how this system actually works. Then the next question would be how do I trouble shoot the system?

It's a fully automatic and generally trouble-free unit called a Primestart....opens and closes the enrichening with an expanding/shrinking wax pellet( same as cooling system thermostat)....red lever should have "on", "off" and "normal" positions...."normal/automatic" is where it should be.....if it's in the "off" position then it won't be enrichening your start up mixture and the motor won't want to start. My 1999 C90 Yamaha has the Primestart and I've never had any issues with it....

Thanks Robert, I checked when I got home for work last night and the lever was in the wrong position. All should be good. I am going to put the muffs on tonight and see what happens.
