100_1193 - Copy.jpg100_1194.jpg[I'm confused about hooking up the automatic oiler. The oil tank i have is about 1.5 gal. it has a gas line and a oil line plus the electerical plug coming from the oil tank. I have one line coming from the build in gas tank on the boat. The motor is a 2000 Johnson 130 HP. Theres 2 lines coming from the motor a oil line and a gas line. Does anybody have a diagram on how to hook up the oil tank. Any help would be appreciated. I added 2 photos so you could see what i was talking about

Thanks Buda

A OMC service manual will help a lot, as you need to bleed the oil line and test the OMS pump. Hooking the tank up is easy. It is proving that the system is working that is the tricky part.

Re: Help hooking up oil tank

[ I was looking at the tank again and thiers one 1/4'' oil line and a 5/16'' oil line coming off the oil tank. Theres only a 1/4'' oil line too the pump I don't see a place too hook up the 5/16'' oil line too the pump. And the gas line from the fuel tank hooks up too the pump. Now if the 5/16'' line is not suppose hook up to the pump can you plug it off. Once I get the oil tank lines hooked up right too the pump. Then i will worry about getting everything set. But not knowing that the lines are right is bugging me. The person on ebay that sold me the tank that it was for a Johnson outboard. I have looked on several sites and the tanks that looked at had only one oil line coming off it, plus the wiring plug.

Thanks Buda

Re: Help hooking up oil tank

The OMC Carb motors only have a single oil line, and a ventilated cap. Does the tank have a part number on it? I have heard rumor that the e-TECs have an oil return line. You might see if it looks like that oil tank.

Merc oil tanks are pressurized to force oil to the motor resevoir. They obviously have two connections, one for oil and one for pressure, and a sealed cap.
