I have been restoring a 1988 Glassport 165 for several years now. I finally got it on the water last year but now my floor has several soft spots. I'm good with mechanical skills (I've rebuilt the motor and all electrical parts of the boat) but I wanted as much advice as possible before I tear out this old floor. I have no idea of how it's attached or what I need to remove from the boat (besides the seats) to be able to tear this out. I have had advice on the type of wood to use and also will be recarpeting the floor afterward.

I would greatly appreciate advice on the steps involved on removal and replacement of the floor and what to do if I have any bad stringers. Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Help! I have a rotting floor

Welcome to I-Boats.... just do a search and type in "rotted" and it will bring back all kinds of stuff. How to check the floor ,stringers and transom.Or type in rotted stringers. At least your in the right place for info and if your mechanically inclined you should be able to do most everything yourself. There is loads and loads of info on this site.Just finding it is kinda tricky

Good Luck

if you have any carpenter skills at all, then you'll be able to do a floor. i'm 16 and i did the foor and everything virtually my self. i had to have a little help from pops, but the majority of the hours were put in by me.

Deck or sole. Boats don't have floors.

i'm not sure what your calling the sole, but i replaced the stringers and the deck..the part you stand on, and built a casting deck.

also did a transom repair.
