HELP I need to find this neutral switch

I need to find a neutral switch for my OMC throttle (see pictures). The ones I do find are out of universe costly like $299 (are you kidding me?)I have a part number which is 172123 on the switch, and 980798 on the throttle.

Any help appreciated...

Larry - is that electric shift for the Stringer?

If so, do a little lookin' on ebay for the whole shifter. Sometimes I've found those cheaper. I've even found donor boats locally cheaper than you can get the switch.

Sorry buddy - I checked to see if I had one, but I don't (bought a sterndrive last year that came with some "parts is parts").

Look for the whole shifter, or watch for a donor boat for cheap. It's sometimes cheaper to get the whole donor than the parts you need (even factoring in dumping the hull).

What I usualy do first is drill out the rivets and carefuly open up the switch and see if you can clean or repair it. Worked great for years on a chevy transmission lock out switch years ago. Ideas above are good also.

Thanks you all. I bought a used throttle control which has the switch in it. So now I am back in business and going to hope the starter turns over when I turn the key now. I will let you know.
