I just picked up an old aluminum canoe and I'm trying to figure out who manufactured it.

It is 14 feet long and has an aluminum seat built in to each end.

The seats have a large M inside a circle pressed into them.

It could also be a large W inside a circle. :)

There are no other markings on the canoe.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help.

It is a circle "M", I have the same canoe, only mine has the emblem stamped on the inside ends of the canoe as well. I do not know the name of it though, I got mine after it washed up at a friends house after a bad storm. He reported it and held it for a couple of years and no one ever claimed it, so he sold it to me for next to nothing. Did anyone ever figure out who made it? I am curious,.

I have a Ouachita aluminum flat back and I'm pretty sure it has the same emblem, but I'll have to double check. I'll try and remember to do so this weekend.

Grumman's Marathon canoes (I believe) are welded versus riveted, so that might help you narrow down the search. Then again, my 1999 Grumman Marathon does not have any encircled M's stamped into the bow and stern benches.
