Help id Starcraft?

Hello, iboat"ers",
I recently received an older Starcraft 16(?) foot boat, from my Sister-in-law. It used to belong to her late father, and she wanted it out of her garage. So, all I had to do was tow it from Minnesota to Nebraska.
Anyway, I'm still waiting for them to send me the paperwork. Can anyone tell me, off hand, what model this is? It has a Mercruiser 2.5L I/O. Also, I can't read any of the labels on the ShoreLand'r trailer. Any ideas there?

Thanks,
EJ

Re: Help id Starcraft?

It looks like a Super Sport in a Glass model. The boat is nice looking and looks well kept for what we can see. The trailer ID plate should be on the toung behind the hitch and attached to the side of the square tubing. The Boat should have a mfg plate near the helm on the side wall , and on the transom right side top should be a hull number molded into the Glass. Cant beat the price you paid for it. Good luck and post a few more photos for better ID.

Re: Help id Starcraft?

It might be an American (my fav glass SC). Is there any thing to give a clue? does it have an ID plate on it? Any idea as to the year?

I hope you realize we're tin boat experts here, fiberglass isn't our cup of tea. You will be teased about the fiberglass boat but we'll eventually narrow down you're boat id. More pictures would help.

That 2.5 is a really good engine. Shoot some trans fliud, or marvel mystery oil into the spark plug holes to lube it up. When you go to start it it will help, it sounds like it's been sitting a while.

Good luck and welcome to the Starmada, my itchy brother.

Can't read trailer ID 'cause the label is so faded. Hopefully, they have paperwork for this. Anyway, she won't start, right now, because it's missing the cylinder head. Not a huge problem, I used to work in an automotive machine shop. Just gotta find one.
Label on helm says, model V-161B. Their best guess is mid-80's.
I have a top view. Does this help?

And, thanks for the help.

Manifold and carb. are present. Not sure about exhaust things, until I know what to look for.

V161 and WV171B in the '82 brochure looks real close. Mine doesn't have stern rails, though. So, maybe it's still a year or two later. But, really, really close.

So, I'm guessing this is a Runabout?

Ahah! I finally realized the plate on the stern is the Hull ID.

STRR1807H586

I know the last 2 digits denote the year... 1986.

So, can anyone tell me what the rest of the HID is telling us?
The 18 doesn't mean 18 footer, does it?

Thanks,

EJ

It might stand for 18-feet. Take a tape measure and find out.
It does look like an 18 in the picture.
Nice boat

I measured from the tip of the bow to the transom. Best I could get was 16 feet. I can't be off by 2 feet, can I?

For some reason I think it's the Medalist model but I have been wrong before.:p

Like Don said, lots more info on the tin hulls around here. The boat looks to be in very good shape for its age.

Welcome to iboats, and the Starcraft fleet.:)

You've found a co-itcher kindred spirit in me. I have a 14'9" 69 bahama starcraft fiberglass boat myself. These guys are serious about being heavily tin centric... great bunch of members despite that fact :)

Welcome aboard!!!! I think your boat might be of the sucessors to the bahama model line. I have yet to find but one brochure showing our specific model year. It seems they made the bahama only 2 or 3 years.
great looking boat, Hope you enjoy !!!!

Thanks, for all the welcomes.

Now, I've started thinking (this could be a little scary). When measuring boat length, does one go from a straight line, bow to stern?
Or, do you measure the keel?

Looking down from above, a boat length is measure from the tip of the bow, straight back (down the middle) to the stern.

It's hard to believe you're off 2 feet. I would measure again just for kicks.

Partrs are easy to come by for the 2.5 by the way.

Send a PM to iboats member chinewalker. He has two Americans. A 16 and an 18 I believe.

If I was a betting man, I'd say yours was rated for 90HP.
