Hi all, I am looking at a restoration project of a 16ft fiberglass ski boat, but I don't know what it is. I would like to do some research on it. Can anyone help identifying this boat.

Thanks

Rehost your photos to google or photobucket and limit the sizes to 640 x 480.

Is there a Hull identification number in the upper right side of the transom on the outside of the hull? If it is not too old the numbers will be there.

Sure looks like thinksun has it pegged. But. . .if not, maybe a Baja, or Checkmate of some sort. Google 1986 Baja photos.

Thinksun, I love that boat! My dad had a mid seventies sidewinder just like that, but all green and had a bench seat in the back where your tow hook is. I so wish he still had it. Had a merc 115 on it and flew :D

I'm with you, not sure that's a Sidewinder. I had one, a 1973 16' with a 120hp Mercruiser I/O (ChevyII 4 banger) and the dash didn't look like that. The hull design was a Sidewinder original, and was shamelessly copied by several other boat makers. Sidewinder sued many of them, and won, but the legal fees drove Sidewinder into bankruptcy. Sidewinder also made probably the best slalom ski of that era, but it died with the boat company.

That is NOT a Sidewinder. Sidewinders had a unique deck configuration (that many of the splashers also used).

That looks a lot like a Sutphen.
