Hello all, I'm new to the forums. I have a part on my 1978 Mercury outboard that I can't seem to identify. I've look at a schematic for my engine and can't seem to identify this part.
Can anyone tell me what this is as I need to replace it as you can see by the wires.

Thanks!

It looks like a mercury switch but it is too upright. Have you tried tracing the wires to see what the go to?
If you can post the engine model and serial number (Or the wiring diagram you are using) it might help.

That is the "mercury" switch that prevents your engine from running if it is tilted too far up. You don't necessarily have to have one, it could be disconnected.
