A buddy gave me an even rude power head with midsection etc but it has no fear case or cowling. I'd like to figure out the hp and year but I can't make sense of the serial number. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Reason I ask is that I have a line on a 1996 70hp with a blown power head If this power head is good can I just swap it over?

Should be a direct bolt on, just use your carbs. Check it for compression before doing any work.

could explore using your '96 lower unit on the '94, if the '94 is otherwise complete. Not saying that would work -- but if compatible, would presumably be a simple switch. Easy way to try out the donor powerhead, and get in a little fun too.

edit. Ah, see the '96 is not in hand -- but guess option might still exist.
