Help identifying this part

Hey guys I'm trying to figure out what the part is.... It looks to be some sort of strainer

It's on the transom on a 1987 Four Winns 210 Horizon with a 5.7L Merc any one know what it's for?

What is attached to it on the inside?

That's the funny thing Don can't seem to see it behind the motor.... Maybe a call out to Four Winns is in order???

Aim a light and a digital camera to that area.

One half of a Mercathode system? Is there a similar unit, without holes, on the other side of the drive?

Yes there is another one on the other side with just a flap....
OK I found the info on that system via google.
Thanks for the name of that! I see it helps with galvanic corrosion on my out drive NICE!
