I finally went out and baught the new prop last night. I purchased the Hustler Hub Kit 1A, and the HU 1317AM 13 1/4" x 17 Prop. What I am running into is that when I put the thrust washer back on the shaft. Slid the new Hub down onto the shaft. Put the Prop on, over the hub. Placed the Spider washer on at the end, then put the other included washer, that locks it in place on. Then I put the nut on and begin to tighten it, well the prop is going down into the gearcase to far, so it locks up, and then won't spin. So I had undone the nut, it seems the prop is to deep to fit on this engine.

Does anyone have any ideas? I have called Turning Point propellers, but the engineer is out testing props, and hopefully will call me back today. You guys in my eyes are just as good as any other company, so I figued I'd post the problem on here while waiting on their call.

Thanks for everything,
Bryan Cox

Hey Bry
I got an 87 125 Force and was wondering how you found the correct Alum. Hustler Prop because their site only shows 1995 Force and newer.
I want to try a new prop on my 1987 1903 Bayliner trophy CC. I get to 34 mph WOT but I'd like to see if shell do a little more.
Plus my prop is a little corroded and I have a nice crescent ding on one blade

Well Ive just installed Hustler props on my boat & had exactly the same problem. On your old prop measure the distance from the back of the hub to the back of the prop. Now do the same with the new prop.Youll have to make up a spacer a little thicker than the difference in the measurements.
Mine measured 1.5mm so I cut washers from 2mm alloy sheet & put them between the thrust washer & the prop hub tightened it up & problem solved.
I have a sharkcat with 2 60hp mercs.

Re: Help installing Hustler Prop on 88 Force 125

After you have added a washer to set it right I strongly suggest a good sea trial. That the pee hole flows at all speeds, forward and reverse doesn't have a consequence etc. I adapted a Comprop to a Force 88, 125 only to loose the peehole flow at 2-3000 rpm. I had modified it too much to fit, but it's part of the learning curve. Next I have a 21" that I want to cut down to a 16 to 18".

Sony2001 what pee hole are you talking about if its the tell tale for the water pump you must be confused cos all the outboards Ive ever owned have the water pickups on the side of the gearcase not thru the prop hub so shimming the prop back will have no effect on the water flow.ssuajk try this guy he may be able to help Propdok@aol.com good luck :D

Well i just purchased a 13pitch and was reading the instructions. My 96 should have a thrust washer? After taking off the mercury prop there was none to be found so i just emailed turning point to get an answer.

You do need a thicker thrust washer behind the prop. This may upset someone, but the fact is that the 3/8" thick thrust washer from a 4 cyl OMC will do the job just right. Save a little more time than cutting washers and won't rust out or rust solid to your shaft.
