I have a fiberglass boat that has an ugly green faded gel coat (pea green)
we already sanded the whole hull with 340 grit wet sandpaper....Wondering about painting / refinishing the color on the bottom of boat SUBMURGED area. We want white or off white.
FYI The work we're doing is for a trailered boat, that we will be selling...not keeping.
I see people using Interlux Perfection paint on the bottoms of thier boats......from what I can tell and have read, it is actually a TOPSIDE paint....not meant for long term submersion
My questions are geared towards someone experienced with the products below...or having used these products
1)Does the interlux perfection paint actually LAST more than 2-3 season before looking bad and or coming off in chunks etc
2) would the VC Performance epoxy work better for the bottom????
3) would the VC Performance epoxy Last more than one season.???
I already know about =Imron base clear (aprox $200 per gallon)
/ roll and tip / roll and roll techniques / spraying paints using hvlp gun /
and have read into gel coating a complete hull (lots of work there!)
See below technical specs on this high performance bottom paint......($140 per gallon) it is a non ablative non antifouling and IS only avail in semi gloss

INTERLUX VC Performance Epoxy is a two-part Teflon bearing epoxy that has a hard, slick finish ideal for use on the underwater surfaces of high performance powerboats and racing sailboats. Teflon adds lubricity and eases wet sanding and burnishing.
VC Performance Epoxy's hard, stain-resistant finish is also ideal for rack-stored and trailered boats or boats that are kept in the water not requiring antifouling protection. VC Performance Epoxy has no antifouling or foul release properties.
