I have a 200 v6 on my new boat.. am i incorrect that the red circled spots is where I "sould" have water spitting out when connected to a water hose and running? Or is this just where exhaust comes out? because on the 200, it dribbles out a tiny stream of water, not a pee stream and not dry..

or is this strictly prop exhaust? im lost on this ..

it was very high, but also when we tested it, it ran great but got a lil warm at idle and mid throttle, and when we went to high throttle it cooled down. but im not seeing water pee out anywhere but prop..

The telltale hose in the lower cowl did not come out till 1978. Your engine should spray tiny water droplets out those two exhaust relief ports when the thermostats open. When on plane (at high throttle) and the pressure relief valves open, there should be two huge streams of water coming out those same exhaust ports. That is probably why the engine cooled down when you went to high throttle. If the engine is overheating, a new impeller is the first place to look, then pull apart the thermostat housings (one on each head) and check the two stats and nylon pressure relief valves.

Re: HELP!! Johnson 200 hp v6 overheating !

Would be good if you could find out if it's actually overheating before you spend time and money to resolve a problem that might not exist.

The temp gauge on my boat (175 hp Johnson) constantly reads at least 40 deg. above spec at any given rpm. There was no indication that the motor was actually suffering (I suspected the gauge was screwy), but of course it was a concern. Changing the impeller and t-stats (they were due anyway) made no difference. I bought a Harbor Freight $40.00 infrared thermometer and took a reading as the manual directed.

Surprise- head temperatures on both cylinder banks are within specs. Either my gauge or sender is messed up, but I got to the truth.
