Help! Joihnson 9.9 hp 1986 wiring..do ihave electric start or not?

Just bought a 9.9 kicker johnson 1986 that was remote shifted and throttled from the helm

The Prior owner started it for me with pull rope. ran fine shiftrd fine

I get it home and looked closer under the hood and find what appears to be a starter...and a 4 foot battery cable

Help!

1. Also pelase advise what the black electric button is on the remote braket.

2. How would a 9.9 electric starter be actuated?

Any advice appreciated


PS i hooked the battery cable to a jumper pack and nothing

i cant see the first letters but the E is for electric start and the L is long shaft. the CB IS the year 1986. the white color should be a johnson. it looks like the stop button was moved from the lower cowl onto that bracket.

This model is electric start from the factory.---------These motors did not use a starter solenoid.---They used a heavy duty push button switch.--That switch was mounted on the starboard side of the steering bracket.-----May have been moved for convenience of operation.--Trace the battery cables to see where they go.

Well Im jealous.

A little odd that the remote steering kit has the starter button on it...but whatever.

Not odd at all.---That is labelled as the stop button-----The throttle cable goes thru where stop button used to be.--Need more pictures to see if start button is still in the original place.
