Hey guys,

I just bought a '76 siren 17 and it needs a little help.

I am wondering how I can get the fiberglass nice and white again?

It is currently pretty grimy and there are a couple of rust stains where an anchor sat for a while.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
Jason

hi and welcome to iboats! glad i could help. You will want to get 400 grit sandpaper and lightly damp it with water. That water will dig in those small grooves you make when using the sand paper. It basically acts as a cleanser and removes all dirt, grease, oil, etc. and restores the gel-coat. It works for me, you can also do the same. As for the rust stains, take some 80 grit sand paper and sand it all down and re-apply a polyurathane based marine paint to the sanded area. There you have it! you will have a fresh, clean gleaming hull in no time. ***oh yeah dont forget to let the wet sand dry, then buff it with a electric buffing wheel with any wax or polish that is gel-coat safe.

post some pictures afterwards of the like-new repairs!

also if planning on doing a rebuild on the boat figuring it is a 1976, you may want to check the boat resto's forms. Great info in there.

anyways, good luck with it all
