Help me identify Model Year on Mariner Outboard

My nephew has a 55hp Mariner outboard on his boat (W55M Ser # 6A3 578529).<br />I have no idea what year it is.<br />Can you tell me from serial number?<br /><br />If not, can you suggest how I can find out?
