Help me identify the year of this motor please.

Just picked up a Mercury 500 thunderbolt 50hp O/B but dont know the year on it. Where might a guy find some sort of serial # or plate on the motor to identify this.

I have a 1964 Merc 500 50hp and my serial number plate is located in the front of the engine by the transom mount.

Plate on the transom underneath motor reads #4142998

You can call up Merc and ask them.
They gave me the year of mine when I couldn't find it on any sites.
