help me maintain my new used force 120hp

My Johnson engine died and im switching to a 1990 force 120 hp. It runs but i dont know its history.its from a marina that got it off a cracked hull.what can i do to optimize its performance and lifespan right off and what immediate and long term maintenance is recommended? thanx to anyone and everyone. any help is greatly appreciated!

From what I have read so far on here use good oil and good gas 90 octane + and fog it once a year and if not needed do not run wide open throttle all the time when cruising cut back to 4900 rpm just to give it a break
