hi I posted earlier about a force 9.9, I took the advice of one of the people who posted(thanks!) and tryed to start my force by spraying wd40 into the engine which has spark, 110psi compression and fuel.. and. So by using wd40 I isolated the question of whether my fuel system was working or not.. so I guess it must be in the electrical system... now if I have spark it's either a.) too weak, or I suspect b.) the timing is completely off. unfortunately in the "official force" manual it doesn't say anything about adjusting the timing on the ignition system (which is SEM walbro) I know the flywheel should be in some type of position but I don't have any idea. and how can I tell if the spark is strong enough??? (please be specific) thanks a bunch!
scott

Re: Help me please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

few questions first....
-was this engine ever running in your possession?
-did you do anything to alter the timing?
-did it fire at all with wd-40?
-was the plug wet after wd-40?
next we'll talk ignition.
-remove plugs from engine
-ground one plug wire right to block.
- Get an old spark plug (from pretty much anything) Break the adjustable ground electrode(terminal) off. (Its the one you bend when adjusting gap). Now you have a crude tool to SAFELY test for spark.(no chance of damaging coil, inside of boot, wire, pack or skin) I much prefer a spark tester,(gap adjustable) but sounds like you're in a panic! Push the wire(the one thats not grounded) on to the tester plug and hold the metal plug body tight to engine block.
-pull the engine over
-do you have spark?
-what color is it?
-try on both cylinders.

If the engine was running before, I doubt the timing is off unless you had a linkage failure of some sort. The throttle should move the linkage which operates the ignition plate which is under the flywheel. Open and close throttle and see if this assm. moves under the flywheel.
See the manual to adjust timing (if the spark proves good)
Good luck!!!
:)

Re: Help me please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scott, we gave you advice before. Have you done what we suggested? Go back to your original thread so we don't go through the whole thing again.

JB
