Stumped will take any suggestions at this point
We have a mercury 200 outboard that is running hot in the yard (on the hose and in a barrel), both at idle and in gear. The strange thing is the location of the hot temperatures varies, top starboard might be running hot then cool down and switch to bottom port side running hot... It’s never the entire engine all at once. It fluctuates anywhere from 100-200 degrees depending on location.
We’ve replaced the thermostats (yes we did check to see that they are opening), the impeller and housing and fuel lines (just because we were in there and they looked like they needed replacing). It is pissing plenty of steaming HOT water so there doesn’t appear to be a blockage, and it cranks and runs like a charm.
We’ve had this motor for years and never had a problem with it running hot in the yard, it just stared this summer out of the blue.
HELP any suggestions welcome
