Hi my buddy was given a 7.5 hp 1974 mont gomery wards motor. The motor runs good heck the guy only had ran it one time for a few minutes back when he bought it. Looks new also. Any way it is smoking and getting hot but NOT the motor or lower unit it is getting hot at the bottom of the motor where the shaft and motor meet it is burning the paint off the metal shroud. The shroud has fins on it like a head or some thing also the engine is air cooled. Can any one tell me why this is getting hot in this spot. The engine runs great and IS NOT GETTING HOT just the part where the engine and shaft meet the lower unit seems to be sealed and the oil there stays and I don't see any grease fittings any help you guy's might be able to provide would be great.
