Hey all,
I have an 82 Whaler and an 82 Mercury 150 on it. Started it up and let it run before taking it out and it ran beautifully. I got fuel on the way to the dock, with proper oil ratio.

At the dock, started it up, ran fine for a few minutes while I parked the trailer. Then I went to reverse to get away from the launch, at smoked, A BUNCH, that white blue smoke like it was burning up a ton of oil, then died. Now it has now power whatsoever. I checked a 20amp fuse that had blown when I got it, that was fine, not sure of any other fuses or reasons it could be dead.

Please help!

Do a compression test to make sure that's good. Run engine off of another tank and see if it has to do with that fuel you just got, ya never know.

I'll have to try those, but that still doesn't explain no power. I turn the key and the starter doesn't even move a little. NOTHING happens. IDK what it could be.

No problem. I meant literally no power. Any suggestions?

No, I figured it out actually. I don't know why it died initially, maybe just caught to rich a mixture?? Either way, the shifter has some play in it, and it was in the neutral position, but I actually had to advance it a ways into the forward position for it to click the neutral start switch. I guess just hope it doesn't die again. Thanks for the tips

You may also want to check that your batterty conection is clean and tight. I just had this problem yesterday motor started fine all day went to head for the dock and nothing. battery looked fine when I look at it but when I took it loose it was coroded on the inside. cleaned it and no more problems.
