My Brother bought his first boat yesterday and now we need some help; Where is the engine serial number, we want to replace the impeller, can someone tell by the plaques on the engine cover how many HP it is and where is the best place to get parts etc.... BTW it has a belt on the flywheel to operate the generator.
Thanks, Ed

Re: Help My Brother's first boat

there should be a tag on the transom clamp, or numbers on a nickel sized plug on the cylinders.

Hi La Bullet. For future reference, you can get virtually any parts you may need for routine maintenance right there at iboats and/or your local NAPA auto parts store which sells Sierra brand replacement parts for vitntage OMC motors like your brothers. Search the web and the forums here for info on "Big Twin" engines and you'll find tons of helpful stuff. Here are a few links that can get you started and walk you though an all around tune up of the old gem. Congrats on the boat. Holler if you get stuck.
