Help needed, older Evinrude remote control

Just bought it on Craig's list, what year is the control?
I need to buy longer cables to be able to shift and throttle the kicker motor from the helm.
Are these cables interchangeable regardless of year of model? About how long of a cable do I need for an 18' boat? The motor is a 1984 7.5 hp Johnson tiller with the remote control adapter installed.

you need pre 1979 cables for that control. measures from control to back of boat, side of boat to center of motor, round up and add 2'.

Iboats had better price on the cables than the best price on EBay.
