Have 65 bluestripe thunderbolt believe it's a 73
Have Lu out and regardless of where I turn the black cam on shift shaft the prop turns and clicks turning cw.
Turning CCW turns the driveshaft I can't find neutral or reverse

Clicking while turning CW is normal for forward. Use a crescent wrench and turn the shift shaft firmly CCW until it clicks into neutral. Set motor to neutral and reinstall gearcase.

I can turn the shift shaft by hand till it stops and no change at the prop
Or do I need the wrench to get into neutral?
Thanks for your reply

You will need the wrench to get it into neutral. Not too much pressure on the wrench, as you are simply compressing a spring, and pushing the dog on the prop shaft about 3/4"
