Help needed to date older model Yamaha motor

Yamaha outboard motor 30hk 2 stroke

motor code:

30 AE 889 402599 can also be 689 402599. Couldn't see any other numbers or letters as the plate was very worn. Do I need to check anywhere else?

Can anyone tell me what year this is? Any idea of it's value? last owner said it ran ok.

689 1979-1985 30AM/30AE/30AEM

Can you see if there is a letter between the 689 and 402599?

Hi, sorry for stealing the thread, but I have same problem. I can se my engine is from 1990- But What year exhatly?

Do either of you see a single letter stamped into the lower RH corner of the data plate?
