Hello! I just purchased a 2004 40HP Mercury ELPTO outboard. I have yet to receive the motor as it is being shipped. I need a little help if someone would be so kind...

FYI, I will be using non Merc controls with a seperate ignition switch.

I located a new OEM Mercury outboard wiring harness with the ignition switch but not sure if it is the correct harness for my application. The harness has a male end with 8 prongs on the end of it. The other end of the harnes has a white female plastic rectangular plug that plugs into the ignition switch.

QUESTION 1. Will this work with the 2004 Merc 40hp ELPTO?

QUESTION 2. Does the outboard itself come from Mercury with the female receiving end of the harness or will I need to get this too?

QUESTION 3. The ignition switch has 5 blades with the letters S, C, A, M, M, B, by the blades. There are two, open connection, yellow wires, one with a red stripe comming off of the S blade on the ignition. Along with a plain yellow wire comming from the male plastic rectangular plug that plugs into the ignition switch. What are these Yellow wires for?

QUESTION 4. Also, there are two black wires comming of the ignition swith with the letter M by them. What are these for?

I can take pictures and email them to you if it helps to better understand. A picture is worth a thousand words. Email me at fastervw@msn.com

I appreciate your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
