Help! Nothing Happens!!

I have a 1994 Evinrude 30hp engine on my boat. Everything worked fine last year when we winterized it. This year after charging my battery I do not even get a spark. Nothing happens? I have replaced the starter, neutral safety switch and every fuse I could find. Can someone help me please! I dont know what to do next, I have checked every connection, fuse and had my battery checked. Everything is ok with them. What's Next? Thanks, Vic

Yes, Thank you for the replies. I have checked the Main fuse in the engine compartment and I have also checked the safety line switch. I am really stumped about this.. Please keep the ideas coming... Thanks!

Victor, Get yourself a manual.There is a very good starter circuit testing procedure.<br /> Try the library,the tab at the top of the page,<br /> amazon.com.NAPA,ebay,etc.<br /> Could be as simple as a bad solinoid.<br /> Difficult to give test procedure in this space.<br /> Good luck.

are the spark plugs in? if they are (if there not I found your problem) in take them out and turn the motor over a couple of time you might have a ton of fogging oil in them, also make shure the plug wires are on. did you also check the BIG SWITCH that says "on, off, 1, 2"

In the meantime, you can take a battery jumer cable, and jump the solenoid big terminals. These would be the bigger terminals, one to the starter,and the other to the battery. The smaller terminals on the solenoid go from the "start" on the ignition switch, to ground.<br />Also, there is a neutral-sensing switch, so the engine will not allow you to start it in gear. This could be bad, or the shift cable may not be in the right place...Try rocking the binicle from forward to reverse,and see it it tries to start.<br />Once you find this switch under the cowling, you can test it with an ohmmeter.

So the engine doesn't turn over or there is no spark?<br /><br />Get yourself a short circuit tester, they're about 5-12 dollars. Starting at the battery check the path of power. First test the positve connection at the battery, then follow the cable and check every point there is a connection, all the way to the starter. Eventually you should find a spot where you lose power. <br /><br />A short circuit tester is your best friend when it comes to troubleshooting an electrical problem.
