ok so I am going cash in hand to purchase this boat (95% sure) on friday. This will be my second boat and a step up from a 1990 bayliner capri cuddy with a 2.3 liter.

http://rochester.craigslist.org/boa/1738320733.html

I have been lookin at this boat for a while now. Prob is I can't find hardly ANY info on it. The current owner is an auto body mechanic and bought it three years ago and repainted the whole thing 2-coat of 2 part dump truck paint which when I looked into is like twice as expensive as our 2 part poly. The paint looks fantastic! Also he has redone the whole interior with vinyl I have never seen the likes of.
He is admittedly not the most engine friendly guy but said it has always had all maintenance and he has paperwork to show. I test drove it it ran beautifully. I was really taken aback at the ease of the throttle.... It moved forward with virtually NO pressure not really sloppy just even the lightest pressure would move it forward. slight bump when shifting into gear but nothing alarming. Floors VERY solid. After running it up to temp at WOT checked oil and the oil looked brand new.

I have been looking at this boat for three months, the guy while not the sharpest tool in the shed seems honest and straightforward.
What model is this?
what is the true length/ weight?
Any plusses or minuses that I should know of?
any links with info etc....???

NADA.com lists boat specifications, and they list a 1990 VIP Vincent as a 23 footer.
it has a weight of 3800 pounds.
The pro is that it is the very dependable GM 350 V8 motor.
The Con is that the outdrive is a Cobra, which they no longer make and mechanics that can work on them are getting fewer and fewer.
You can do a search in the I/O section and get opinions of buying an older boat with a cobra outdrive.

thanks for your response! Now I am just wondering if there is anyway to get ahold of the original owners manual.
