Help on pulling out 3.0 motor

Im pulling out my 4 clyd 3.0 motor out of my boat. Do i take the bolts out that goes around the bell houseing think theres bout eight of them or do i take the two bigger nuts off the back of the bell houseing????

drive comes off first. put gear shift in forward. If the 2 big bolts are facing downward thats them. notice how the washers, springs etc come off you will need to put them back the same way.

Got drive off, put in forward to take drive off??? Yea two big bolts are facing downward and looks like rubber bushings under them. So then i will be takeing bell houseing out to attached to the motor,will it come straight up or does it need to come forward a little to come out??

should more forward and up. Be sure to check the shifting on your drive before you reinstall. You can bend the shift arm if drive is not in forward. Most of the time it will be ok. Really need a manual. Maybe do a search at the top of this page.

ok yea got drive off pretty easy done it before, so a total of four bolts comes off before it comes out? How far forward does it need to come before it comes up i aint got alot of room to come forward mabye two inches before it hits the back of back bench.

Enough to clear. (I am not trying to be funny)

Some boat builders didn't make it very easy to get engines in and out. You may have to tilt the engine enough to get it out OR do some cutting.......

Make sure you take the inspection cover off. Believe me it is much easier with the cover off ;). You live and learn the hard way. Just my 2 cents.
