I have a 1977 Model 200, 20HP Mercury manual shift motor and I am replacing a old worn out part# 63673 - LEVER, SHIFT CONTROL for the shift control linkage. I cannot seem to get the Shift handle off the shift shaft. Any suggestions on how I break this thing loose? After that I guess that I take the Sector Gear nut off and work the shaft out from there? Am I close to what I need to do. Any help is apprectiated.

After removing the screw that holds the shift lever to the box, try screwing a 1/4 bolt in it's place and tapping it off
