Sounds like no fuel at the carburetors. When pumping bulb, does it get hard? Take the fuel line loose at the fuel pump and pump bulb. Is there fuel there? How about fuel pressure between the fuel pump and the carburetors? Should be 2 1/2 - 6psi. Try using a different fuel tank. Just a few things to take a look at. Try 'um and see what happens then lettus know.

g'luck & c/6

Hooty

What happends if you connect the fuel hose in to the carburator ?( bypas fuelpump ),can you fill them whith fuel (sqeeze bulb )?.
If the engine start now you have to take a closer look at the fuelpump , sounds like you have switch 2 valves inside , or you have connected input to output on the fuelpump.
If everything is ok at the connetion on the pump try to connect the fuel hose directly to the fuelpump ( bypas the fuel connector ).
Try to follow the fuel, from tank to carbs .

Pillatzki.... You say you can pump the fuel primer bulb until your hand gets tired. I assume that this means that the primer bulb never gets hard. If so, install another fuel primer bulb and have the arrow (fuel flow direction) on the bulb facing the engine. Hold the bulb vertical (arrow up) when pumping.

You also say that if you prime the engine at the carburetor(s) the engine will start and run until you shut it off. I, again, assume that you mean shutting the engine off by turning the key off, and that the engine will run for whatever length of time you desire before shutting it off.

If this is the case, I would suspect that either you are not operating the choke when attempting to start the engine, or that the choke is not functioning at all when you engage the choke switch.

As I recall, you can bypass the automatic choke (which may not be operating), by pulling out the button all the way (bottom right front of the cowling). Pushing it in all the way disengages the choke. Putting it in the middle position allows the autochoke to control.

Re: HELP PLEASE 1969 evinrude 85hp outboard

Hey there Joe I was talking to you about my 69 85HP (85ESL69E)Johnson for a while RE: electrical then the iknformation trailo stopped. Is there a wiring diagragm to replace the pulse pack with an automotive coil an d rections to do so and waht all is need to see if this is the actual problem.
As I said to you before I've done all the tests I can do even the lightbulbe test and nothing happens. So is the pack dead or the coil.
It may be cheaper and easier to replace the pulse pack with an alternate type coil and whatever is neede to go with it?
I was waiting for a reply but none came?
