HELP PLEASE.......1978 Mercury 110 9.8

Hi I have a 1978 9.8 blueband merc outboard and it wont start. The plugs are continuously dry does anyone know that with the carb removed is the inlet meant to suck whilst pulling over?? if anyone knows can you let me know asap please as im trying to get on water this weekend ........Thanks

A quick ck would be to squirt some feul mix in the carb to see if it will fire if so, then you will need to remove the carb and clean it.

Hi ive had carb stripped cleaned and new gaskets fitted and sprayed easy start in carb still not firing. it seems no fuel is getting into the block does the fuel system need to be pressurissed to get fuel into the cylinders.. both spark plugs are sparking fine

Go to the Engine FAQs, Outboard won't start.
