Help Please. Alpha one or Gen 2

I just purchased an 89 Chaparral 1900SX with a OMC 5.7 and the out drive has been changed to a Mercruiser Alpha. How do I tell if the apha is a gen 2 or alpha one? Thanks

SE116 maybe,or just the conversion kit and a merc GEN II
