The white plastic 'worm' has teeth at the end that engage the motor. Either the teeth have broken or the worm has come out to far and is not contacting the motor teeth (it works like rack & pinion steering).

If teeth are broken - new arial.( Sometimes repair kits are available depending on vehicle make & model)

If it has come out to far - you can dismantle motor and reinsert worm - but its a pain in the **** to get the the arial in sync with 'all the way up' and 'all the way down'.

Good luck

Aldo

FWIW, own up to your dad, you might be surprised how forgiving us dads can be - I respect my son more when he fesses up rather than learning the hard way - and sooner or later we always find out.

We were teenagers once.

Aldo

You can try 'feeding' it in while someone operates the down button but it rarely works, its difficult to align the worm with the motor without dismantling the motor (front cover).

I can't think of any other way. (you could ask your dad for help ;) )

Aldo

Okay, I'll try that tomorow.

If I take the white plastic thing cut it, remove a section and put the two crome peaces together, will the it still pick up a signal?

Yes, assuming you get a good contact. The plastic worm is soley for raising and lowering - it plays no role in reception.

Aldo

Thank you!! I'll sleep better now.

If I can't get it into the motor I'll cut it off and duck tape it.

If you can't duck it--- F*&K it

Normally I'd try to do it the right way, but this car is an old beater pos. Poor thing only see's the roads for a few weeks in the winter when the roads are loaded with salt, my dad bombs in it around so only one car gets rusted out. Then in the summer I pull trailers around the yard and burn rubber in the driveway with the thing :p It does a nasty brake stance, too  :D

I fixed it today.

I didn't have to cut the plactic thing. With someone in the car pushing the button fished around and got the motor to grab the teath and go back in.
