I have disassembled my L/U to replace the clutch dog. I didn't have any problem getting to the clutch. I started putting it back together and everything was going great until I started trying to hook the shift rod connector to the shift cradle. I'm talking about the yoke that goes around the shank on the reverse gear and hooks to the shift cradle that slids the clutch dog from gear to gear. The shift rod screws into the top of this yoke. Someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong here. It's 98* and I've worked trying to get this thing together all morning. I'm stuck. It's on a 1979, 35 hp, Evinrude. Thanks for the help.
