The rub rail can be replaced.Under the rubber should be rivets or screws. Most boat builders use rivets that will need to be drilled out.Try to keep the old aluminum in shape so you have somewhat of a pattern for your bends and something to measure by.
Plan on spending some bucks, the new rub rails are not cheap..
You may check in to some 3M fiberglass restoration products, polish, waxes ect...they make good stuff.

Check out this website. They probably made the original rubrail when the boat was built. They have make and model specific rubrail in the "selection guide" page. Yes it is expensive....very. But it can be a single improvement that has a dramatic effect on how good the boat looks.

Just a note here. The link I provided is to the Taco website. Taco is the manufacturer of most rubrails in use today. They do not sell rubrail from their website. If you want to purchase rubrail, it is the brand iboats carries.
I make it a policy not to mention competitors websites in this forum. The Taco website is the manufacturer, not a retailer.
I think you will find that Taco is the leading maker of rubrail and it used by most boat manufacturers. That must be why it is so expensive, they seem to be the only game in town.

Taco will send you a small sample of whichever you're looking to buy if you email them and ask nicely.
