HELP - Revs up in Neutral, bogs down in gear

I am new to boating. I bought an 06 Sylvan 20' Pontoon. It has a 2006 outboard Yamaha 60TRL.

When you first crank it the engine runs great in neutral. When you throw it in gear it starts vibrating and bogs down. If you try to throttle thru it the motor dies. After a little playing with it the boat jumps up and runs great. 90% of the time, if you kill it and float for a while or keep it in neutral for a few minutes after running fine for an hour it will start acting up again. The weird thing to me is how good the motor sounds and runs in neutral but sounds and acts terrible in gear. I have basic mechanic skills and no money due to buying a boat:facepalm:.... Any Help?

Multi cylinder 2 strokes will pretend to run fine on one cylinder with no load on them, WTX. Yours seems to be dropping a cylinder, then picking it up, then losing it again. What, exactly, are you doing when you "play with it"? Seems you do something that gets the dead cylinder to run for a while.

By "Playing with it" I meant several things LOL. Starting it, reving it up in Neutral. Trying to get it to idle as high as possible without dying. Killing it for a while. Playing with the choke.

Some people have told me I have a bad fuel line or loose fuel line hose clamp.
Some people have told me I have trash in my fuel lines or tank.

pilot(idle) jets/passages probably need cleaning .

Make sure you clean the carbs properly and do the link and sync like manual calls for when reinstalling and set to specs.

Motor needs more fuel to produce power under load(in gear).

Never hurts to make sure compression, spark and timing are correct before chasing fuel problem
