lately every so often ive been noticeing issues with shifting, first sighn was it wouldnt go into reverse untill i moved the shifter back and for a few time. went home, checked the adjustment, made very minor adjustments, then i started noticing that when i would push the throttle into forward, it wouldnt go into gears untill i pushed the throttle to the point just before the motor started revving up, and when i put it in reverse, it gose into gear almost as soon as the throttle is moved out of neutrol. im assuming i need new shift cables but im hoping somebody could tell me whitch one i need, im a little short on cash and am trying to avoid doing them both right now. or is there an adjustment that i could make?

ive never worked with shift cables before other than makeing the adjustments that are in the manual so if it sounds like i may have overlooked something, its probley because i did, anyadvise would be a big help.

thanks

Dave

Re: HELP. shift cable problems

Well unfortunately either one of the two cables could be misadjusted or going bad.

The only way to tell for sure is to go thru the service manual shift cable adjustments once again to help find out what cable might be out of specification.

Hopefully it's not your shift spool inside the lower gear housing.

Good luck with it.:)
