I HAVE REPLACED FUEL LINES,REPLACED FUEL PUMP, REBUILT CARB, CHANGED PLUGS, EVEN REPLACED FUEL TANK. MY ENGINE WILL START, ONLY WITH FUEL POURED INTO CARBS, AND THEN WILL IMMEDIATELY STALL WHEN THAT FUEL IS BURNED.WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE?

Sounds like you've covered all the bases, and that motor should be running like a top. Obviously

it is not.If the carb rebuild was NOT the last thing you did,do it again.

Also would help if we knew what motor we are working on.

DHP

Check all your ignition. I had just about the same problem, but on a 89 175 gt johnson. I had wires crossed on the pack, and I belive you have points. Make sure the spark is blue from the gap on the plugs. Not like a greenish color. Sounds like the spark isn't hot enough. Even had the same problem on a 66 harley sportster.

OK, it'll start if we feed it fuel. That means the ignition is probably OK. If you keep feeding it fuel will it continue to run?

Try this -- pump up the bulb (make sure the arrow points toward the motor). When the bulb is firm, crack the screw on any one of the screws on the carb bowl covering the hi speed jet. Did fuel leak out?
