HELP! Tohatsu 70 wont trim up!

I got a 94 model tohatsu 70 and the power trim went out going up, it will trim down but not up. Its got brand new solenoids, the guy i bought it from just replaced them. And i swapped the outside wires on the switch and it still only trims down and not up. Any pointers? Would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing unique about the power trim on a Tohatsu vs other brands. Time to drag out the Factory service manual and troubleshoot these simple DC circuits for the trim pump.

Hope this reply is not too late for you. The two solenoids simply reverse the polarity to the pump motor so if it will go up it is not the motor and is in the wiring at the solenoids. I had this same problem and finally found a loose nut on the ground connect on the opposite solenoid. Removed wires, cleaned connections, coated with dielectric grease, reconnected, problem solved. The schematic diagram in the owners manual which you can get on line may help you to confirm if the previous owner installed the solenoids correctly.
